The drains are a whole 'nother story! I have one on each side and I have to empty them 3 times a day. They are to stay in for 1-2 weeks and I can get them out as soon as they drain less than 20 cc per side, per day. Right now I'm at about 30-40 cc per day but I feel like that's still pretty good considering I'm only 3 days post surgery. I'm really hoping to have these drains out by the end of this week. PRAYERS PEOPLE!!!!
I was also able to take a bath today and my mom washed my hair so that was good. I had to wash my incisions and the drain sites too. I was scared at first but I'm either still very numb or I have just lost feeling due to nerve damage, that may or may not come back. Sometimes it takes years for those nerves to heal but there is a great chance I will not have feeling again there, EVER! I took the 3 flights of stairs down to my mom's car and rode with her to get some lunch. I may have overdone it with that move but it was nice to see the outside world. I feel like I am recovering at a much faster rate than I ever thought possible so that is reassuring. I can't wait to see what my doc says when I see him Tuesday.
Head over to the gallery page if you'd like to see a photo from today. But let me warn you it is graphic and not for the weak. My incisions look great in my opinion but there is some definite swelling. You can see one of my drains but note that I have one on each side.
