I signed up for a Pink Pal through the Bright Pink organization (http://www.brightpink.org/) and finally got matched up with a perfect pal. I shouldn’t say “finally” as the process was quite easy and fast. I applied online for one, then someone from BP called me for a phone interview to see what I was looking for in a pal. She told me it would take her probably a week to match me up but she’d be in touch. I think 24 hours later I had a match and within 2 days my Pink Pal emailed me and we set up a time to chat. We chatted for about an hour and half and she shared her life story and I was able to ask her all sorts of questions about surgery. She had the EXACT same surgery I will be having in July. She was super sweet, helpful and supportive. We have since emailed and I have asked her to email me a list of things I will need in the hospital and any suggestions on things I should take care of or do before my surgery. The only real difference between my Pink Pal and me are that she was married while going through her surgery and I am not. I really was hoping for someone unmarried because part of my anxiety of this surgery is my dating life after surgery and what that will look/feel like. But otherwise, I am very happy with my match!
