Meeeeeeeeeee! So long story short, I applied for the Bright Pink University to become either a support or education ambassador for Austin, Texas. We don't currently have one here! So I applied for the educator role and got an email on Monday that said I made it through the application process and they wanted to interview me via Skype (Bright Pink is based out of Chicago, IL). We set up a time and I had my interview yesterday. I had prepared a 2-3 minute presentation as requested, on Bright Pinks mission, but didn't even end up needing it as the interview only lasted 10 minutes. I was a little concerned that it was over so fast but felt very confident that I had done a good job. 30 minutes later I had received an email from the interviewer's boss asking me to set up a phone conference as they were very impressed with me. We had that phone call this morning and they basically offered me the position, which I gladly accepted! This is a volunteer position that requires an 18 month commitment and I have a LOT to do. The next step is to attend the Bright Pink University training in Chicago on 11/14-11/16, and they will cover my flight, hotel and meals in exchange for my 18 month commitment. I am SO excited! I've never been more passionate about anything in my life up until now, besides teaching, and can't wait to help educate other women on Bright Pink's mission. Basically they ask that I try to reach out and share BP's mission with 150 women, every quarter (so 600 PER YEAR)! This will be a large beast to tackle with my full time job but I am VERY much up for the challenge. I would one day LOVE to work for Bright Pink! I actually applied for their Program Coordinator position a few weeks ago but haven't heard anything. I'm hoping to get out of teaching and into a job that I am more passionate about these days. I still love teaching but I am ready for a new adventure. With my risk reduction surgery, all of the research I have done and continue to do, and the more I read and learn, the more passionate I become to help educate, empower and enlighten other women in my similar situation. WISH ME LUCK!!!!
